Elie Mystal has revealed his canine, Raya, was killed on Halloween in a heartbreaking submit shared on Twitter.
The author, 44, took to the platform on Monday, October 31, to announce he is stepping away from social media following her loss of life.
“Off air. I will take a break for Twitter for a bit. In some unhappy information at 4:00 in the present day my canine was killed. She was ready for my youngsters to come back dwelling, by the door as at all times.
“However, whereas they had been debussing we went out to offer the bus driver a bag of Halloween sweet. The canine bolted,” the New York Occasions bestselling creator stated.

“Some… driver… was making an attempt to get across the stopped faculty bus, at pace. The motive force hit my canine, immediately killing her, and saved proper on going,” he defined, noting, “My youngsters noticed all of it.”
“I will be submitting a police report. May come a time after I disappear (or am disappeared) from Elon Musk’s Twitter,” Mystal added, referring to the Tesla CEO’s latest buy of the platform. “However proper now, we’re all simply heartbroken. I am going to see you guys on the opposite aspect.”

On the time of publication, Mystal’s preliminary tweet garnered greater than 62,000 likes. Within the feedback, folks despatched their condolences.

MSNBC host Katie S. Phang, in the meantime, stated, “I’m heartbroken for you and your complete household. What a horrible factor to need to undergo. Praying that you’re all going to be okay.”
“I am so sorry!!! Drivers that go round faculty [buses] needs to be punished within the strongest of manners,” another person chimed in, which racked up over 3,000 likes.
“So sincerely sorry for the lack of your member of the family. A loss of life within the household is at all times tough, however when it is below these circumstances & so sudden, the ache is even sharper,” one other stated. “My deepest sympathy.”
Mystal first launched Raya to his 480,000 Twitter followers in June 2021.
